Laser Sensor in Robots and automatic machines can be used for detection, counting, triggering, mapping, 2D/3D profile, position, and guidance etc. from proximities to long distances whatever you want to sense. Brightlaser VCSEL Sensors enhance the accuracy and resolution of traditional laser sensors. Brightlaser also provides a completed solution for the various applications to meet your unique requirements.
Laser Sensor acts as Robots’ Eyes
Robots for artificial technology develop rapidly and strive more complex and precise techniques. Laser sensors are used for guiding the direction and position of the robots. The sensors look like our eyes to “SEE” the surrounding objects. To see clearer, robots require more accurate and higher resolution laser sensors. It partly depends on the spot size/ divergence of laser source and responsibility of photodiode. Brightlaser VCSEL (Vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser) Sensor consists of VCSEL diode with a smaller and more focused laser spot and well-performance photodiode. It could make your robot “SEE” clearer.
Applications of Laser Sensors
VCSEL sensors of the robots are used for a variety of applications, from consumable purpose such as sweeping and mowing robots to industrial purpose such as AGV, service and patrol robots. Taking sweeping robots as an example, VCSEL sensors can be applied to 2D laser profile sensor, height sensor, obstacle detection sensor and position sensor. For each sensor, Brightlaser offers a completed solution for customer.
2D laser profile sensor
High-precision 360° lidar B1 (models: LS-0940H-007M-CC-FX9) designed by Brightlaser adopts 940nm VCSEL pulsed laser source and dToF technology. Its scanning frequency can reach to 7.3kHz and 30kHz. Lidars with 4m or 7m scanning distance can be selected. Its scanning accuracy achieves the centimeter level. With 360° omnidirectional environment scanning, robot can "see" all surrounding obstacles to plan path to reduce the blind area of navigation effectively and to improve the coverage.
Height Sensor/ Wall Sensor
Brightlaser Laser modules with dot spot can be used to recognize easily walls, large obstacles or ground clearance to avoid collisions. Our dot laser modules are cost-effective and customizable.

Obstacle detection sensor
A laser module with line shape or 3D laser range finder sensor is installed in the front of the robot for the detection. When the robot is moving around, it observes the obstacles and changes its directions. Brightlaser provides a customizable line laser module under different scenarios. Meanwhile, Brightlaser 3D laser range finder sensor can satisfy the higher standard of real-time scene. Combined with algorithms, the robots enable to recognize the objects such as carpets, wires, or shoes, and to sense 3D dynamic obstacles instantly.
Position sensor
When the robot needs to return to its charging base after working, the system will calculate and provide a new and smarter route without obstacles. One of the solutions is to emit an infrared modulation coded signal from the infrared transmitter of the charging base. The robot detects the intensity of the infrared signal by infrared receiving devices and find the appropriated route. Brightlaser provides customizable IR VCSEL modules for your need. Another solution is to utilize Brightlaser Laser Range Finder Sensor B1, which can guide the robot to the approximate range by the plan of route and detect the specific shape of charging base, to return the base.
